'Dollhouse' is an animated short I made in my final year of college.
Dollhouse is a surreal animated short that explores societal control, and the effect this has on our mental wellbeing. The Dolls mental turmoil is reflected through the surreal environment he finds himself in.
Personified furniture comes to life to express a range of his turbulent emotions. The theme of isolation is particularly relevant today, as many have experienced a loss of control and security in their life and sense of perpetual waiting.
This 2D animation depicts an absurd fantasy like dimension where once inanimate objects struggle with feelings of helplessness, anxiety, anger, and blissful ignorance. It highlights how we, as a society, often choose to ignore bigger issues when we feel a lack of power, and instead get lost in our own vanities and smaller problems.
Like we often are, the Doll begins and ends asleep to what is happening around him, letting the cycle continue tomorrow.
